Referral system is very important for patient care as well as to reduce unnecessary load in the secondary and tertiary Government hospitals. In this system patients get health at their doorstep.

Such systems are present many countries of Europe. Each GP clinic is equipped with Laboratory and Pharmacy facility. Recently Government decided to establish 700 GP clinics in the urban area of the country of which 45 clinics will be set up in Dhaka city very soon.
